香港愛護動物協會(愛協)由一班志願者於1903年組成，成立初期的目標是防止動物於運輸和屠宰過程中受到不人道對待。愛協是香港首間致力從多方面提昇動物福利的慈善機構，後來更獲英國皇家愛護動物協會認可，於1978年以皇家防止虐待動物協會為名，服務香港有需要的動物，直至1997年香港回歸，便重拾香港愛護動物協會之名繼續運作。 我們的使命是透過實際行動、倡議及教育，保障香港動物的健康及福利，致力終止殘酷對待動物的行為，免牠們承受痛苦。 The Hong Kong Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) – as we were known in the early days – was formed by a group of volunteers in 1903 who wanted to prevent cruel treatment to livestock during transportation and slaughter.
