In 1983 I bought my first video camera and started capturing anything that moved!! Family, trains, planes and cars. I lived on an air force base at the time and found that a great source of material, including the huge Triad exercise which had F-15s in action over Whenuapai. But my favourite subject (after family) is railroads. That was the motivation to travel to the USA and Canada in 1985, to collect footage to make PAL system rail videos. I spent 12 months writing (yes, pen on paper) to railroads across the continent, to arrange access to rail facilities. What happened when we got there just blew us away.
