The mission of Born HIV Free is to use public and institutional action to mobilise political leaders, the media and public opinion around the protection of mothers and children from AIDS. In addition to the high profile Carla Bruni-Sarkozy brings the cause she founded, she is frequently involved both in field-based activities and in advocacy to influence opinion leaders. The campaign was initialy launched in 2010 by the Global Fund, as an awareness-raising campaign initiated and supported by Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and conceived by Julien Civange.
