The Lviv Bus Plant LAZ was established on May 21,1945 as an assembly factory for small crane production. The plant grew in size and first started producing buses in 1956. Over its lifetime, LAZ has produced over 367,000 buses and trolleybuses for many countries all over the world. After the fall of the Soviet Union, LAZ was one of the only factories that stayed open in Ukraine and kept production at a high level to this day. Today, LAZ and DAZ together produce over 40 different models of buses and trolleybuses from 9 meters(39 ft aprx) long to 19 meters(67 ft aprx) long.
