Brando Quilici was born in Buenos Aires. Son of Folco, reknowned documentary director and writer, and Laura Grisi, minimalist artist. He lives and studied in Rome, Italy. Quilici first appeared on the international scene at the age of 8 when he wrote and illustrated a book entitled Lets go to Africa, which won the 1966 International Critici in Erba Prize, Bologna. An independent Italian filmmaker, Quilicis career spans over 27 years in which he has produced and directed over 100 documentary specials for both American networks, including the Discovery Channel and National Geographic and European networks including France 5, ZDF, Rai and Channel 4.
