Music & comedy- in that order. Were these people "old school" or just represent the skills that seem to have vanished in pop music today? No "auto-tune" or electronic tricks existed nor were needed for these super talents. My favorites by far are Andy Williams and Tony Bennett- two very different singers with very different vocal skills. I listen to them from a musicians' point of view- even when the material is marginal- I focus on the limitless vocal skills of both of these people. Instrumentally- Doc Severensen Buddy Rich, Maynard Fergusen-all with limitless abilities. In comedy, silly works for me. Letterman, Conan , SNL, SCTV and ANYTHING Mel Brooks makes me laugh .Let me address the "counting numbers" that are on many of the videos.These rare videos are of various quality- some very good and many poor.The onscreen timing numbers are embedded in the videos- nobody likes them but there is no way to remove them.
