Ngoshi (ex Merce Death)

Ngoshi is the solo project of Shingo Ohno. I originally started around 2002 under the name Merce Death, but a few years ago I changed the name to Ngoshi and have been working under that ever since. What hasn’t changed since the beginning is my core approach: layering improvised performances using a looper—all by myself. I started with the Boss RC-20, moved on to the RC-50, then around 2020 I switched to Loopy HD, and now I use Loopy Pro. Since switching to Loopy, I’ve been able to perform without relying on power outlets, which has made it easier to record outdoors.
