Religion is a belief mixed with emotional trust but Faith is NOT. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith comes with the knowledge of God that is not seen then understanding arises from this knowledge, hence wisdom results in the revelation or discovery of substance into reality that by then can be proven by Science. What is substance? Substance is something that is already in existence that yet to be found, seen or evidence because it is yet to be reveal we called it discovery or revelation. God is not, neither is HE locked in or attached to a book, a religion or a man but through The Word HE sent to live among us, HE provides Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding that some collective books gather some of them so as for us to gain understanding and exercise Wisdom by choice so that we have the ability to choose to walk The Way, seek The Truth and live The Life. This is the basic mission for every man (and woman) here. God is Love, Forgiving and Just but HE is not a Mr. nice guy that exists or lives according to what we think HE should be - HE is sovereign! Romans 11:22 So don't take HIS love based on our understanding for granted and impose how HE should behave as a Mr. loving nice guy.
