This Channel is dedicated to Dr. Julian Richardson - Proprietor of Marcus Books. Born in Birmingham Alabama, he graduated from Tuskegee Institute and was the first Black person hired by the legendary San Francisco Chronicle newspaper. He left the Chronicle to start Success Printing, and for many years set type for the Sun Reporter Newspaper of SF before establishing Marcus Books in the Fillmore. Heralded as a mentor to countless Black men in the community, he is remembered by his revered wife Dr. Raye Richardson, and a proud legacy of children, grandchildren and great grand children. Marcus Books is the oldest Black owned bookstore in the United States.
