I've been working on an Singer Athena 2000 which has many points in common with the 2001. The service manual shows 3 points underneath (2 gears plus the rocker) to add grease, and 6 places to add oil. "BUSHINGS : Additional oil, two or three drops, is to be applied to the sintered metal bearings, such as rotating shaft bushings, presser bar bushing inserts, rotating hook shaft bushing." For the bobbin, I would clean it well (removing the bobbin case to get underneath) and add a couple of drops of oil - not a few tablespoons of oil! All the oil you added will find its way down to the gears below. You might want to find the Service Manual for your machine as its very detailed.

Your video has been the most helpful by far. I’m still working on trying to reassemble the latch in the bobbin case but I’m sure I’ll get there. Thank you for sharing your knowledge

The first computerized machine was the Singer Athena 2000 back in 1975, the Touch Tronic 2001 was Athena 2000's successor.

Thank you so much for this video.I just got this machine donated by someone and i've just taken care of her real nice.I couldn't do all of the steps you did, but I was able to remove all the frozen up gunk and to add oil. Unfortunately, somehow maybe I must have contaminated an area with oil though I was extremely careful. And now none of the lights will turn on in the electronic control. It doesn't work anymore other than going in rivers by itself, like a silly drunk machine. I feel like such a klutz, because it was working though roughly, before I touched it and now after 3 hours of carefully oiling and fixing things, boom is dead😅

Love these machines. I bought one in 1979 and really got a lot of use out of it. Now I have 6 of them. Only one thing: I cannot recall how I used to shift the needle slightly to the right or left of centre. Great video. Thanks a lot.

Oh, magical sewing machine whisperer, I NEED YOUR HELP. Your video is beyond excellent. THE LIGHTS ON the "Length, Balance, and Width" portion of the panel don't work anymore, they do not light up. When I press on the area they make the noise but the numbers don't light up. The rest of the panel works and illuminates. I've spent countless hours, days, weeks, months searching the web for help with this problem and can't find it. It's hard for me to believe no one else in the world has had this problem. Can or would you point me in the direction where I might find help? If the rest of the lights go out I'm lost!
